For those of you in DC, during the Warehouse Arts Fest, a 10 day celebration of Art, Music, Theater, Dance, Film and Literature, Stamen & Pistils will be supporting indie-electro-punks IQU (ee-koo) and Austin indie rockers Zykos. The Olympia, WA lo-fi electronic duo IQU mixes drum-n-bass with the immediacy of lo-fi and punk. Zykos: wall of sound arrangements, brighter synth and keys, bigger hooks, dynamic sound, more calm amidst the chaos, cohesive without sacrificing intensity.

Also, our friends Portions Toll will be playing with Frog Eyes on October 5. Do not miss this one or you will regret it. the warehouse nextdoor is at 1017 7th St NW DC.

Hey DC, we are back at the Warehouse Nextdoor this month, opening up an amazing night with amazing bands. On November 23rd, Dear Nora’s Katy Davidson will be playing her beautiful pastoral folky pop. YACHT, freshly back from europe touring as Devandra Banhart’s drummer, delivering his brand of laptop pop. Even if you think you don’t know him, you know his work. Jona has played in/with/for some pretty brilliant records by the likes of Microphones, Mirah, ((VVRRSSNN)), Devendra Banhart, Dear Nora, The Badger King, Bobby Birdman, Little Wing, The Blow and others. Speaking of the Blow, Khaela is of course playing this show as well, and we are all quite excited for this shithot line up. She’s supporting her new release, Poor Aim: Love Songs, which consequently, features YACHT all over it playing a bunch of instruments and making beats. Check out the shows page for more details.

Thanks to Disco Dan and the City Museum, starting the night off with songs dedicated to the District, and WERC (members of 4 square) rocked us past midnight into the New Year. Great showing too, and it turns out that we did not actually run out of Sparks as we thought we had. This was good news for Saturday.

So apparently there was some sports broadcast happening at the same time as our live broadcast at WMUC the other week. Apologies to anyone who tuned in to hear us. The other part of that which sucks is that the station’s servers are down and so our show can’t even be heard on archive yet. But, hopefully, in the coming weeks that will all change.

Another show coming up this week, this time in Virginia at the Galaxy Hut. We will be sharing the stage with Portions Toll, the four-limbed pursuit of John M (Metropolitan) and Marc M (Plums). Employing a variety of instruments and a wealth of stimulants, Portions Tollplay semi-improvised noise-folk-rock. They are enamored of the work of Devendra Banhart, Animal Collective, American Analog Set, Tower Recordings, Joanna Newsom, and Vincent Gallo, though they cannot be held legally responsible for their inability to sound like any of those. Come on out if you can, its an all ages show, doors open at 9:30. And you didn’t want to watch the Superbowl anyway.

Also, we’ve been in the studio this week with Derek Morton (of the Mikroknytes), mixing our forthcoming ep. Look for a late spring release date. Ok, that’s it for now. more later.

This year is flying by at breakneck speed. Feels like it was just New Years just a week or two ago. The mastering on the EP is getting wrapped up this week, and if all goes well, you should be able to get your hands on a copy of “The End of the Sweet Parade” sometime in late May/early June. The exact date is still up in the air, but we’ll let you know as soon as we know. The official tracklisting is as follows:

1. Hand Painted Characters
2. Somewhere In Between the Beginning and the Middle
3. Peonies and Dahlia Petals
4. Penny Farthing Fair
5. Boys Vs. Girls
6. She the Widow, the Child Who Follows
7. Sleep for the Bells
8. Friction (Pts 1 & 2)

Hopefully you recognize your favorite song from our live set. And if not, that gives you more reason to continue seeing us live! We will be hitting the road this summer to support the ep, so hopefully we come through a town near you. If you are interested in having us play your town, email us at snp@echelonproductions.com. Check in on us, we should have some new show dates up soon.
