Less than 2 months until “Towns” is released, and less than a month before we begin our tour! This saturday, April 28 we will be joining Brooklyn’s wonderful Mossyrock and a few great DC bands at Rock n Roll Hotel. The Hard Tomorrows, Let’s French, & Deleted Scenes all round out the bill. Oh yeah, and 50 visual artists will be displaying their work at this show as well. Its different, its interesting and it should be fun. So please do come out and support us if you can. Also, we will be playing with a slightly different line up, as our friends from Deleted Scenes will be backing us up for our set. It will be a pleasant surprise for you guys. 5 bands for 5 bucks and all that art, too. Doors open early so try to get out early if you can.

I’ve been getting really lazy about posting updates to myspace and neglecting updating here. Well, the lazy days are over. For those of you in DC/VA/MD, we’re playing a show in Arlington at Murky Upstairs, which is about a block away from the Clarendon Metro stop. We’re playing with Carol Bui, whose voice graces a song on our upcoming album, and with Panda & Angel (Jade Tree). Just $5. click here for the flyer

As you are probably by now aware, our new album, entitled Towns comes out in June. We’ll try to have some goodies available for you in the meanwhile. For example, you can check out 2 songs from the album right now on our myspace page. These songs are “Quiet County” featuring vocals by the lovely Mikal Evans (Gypsy Eyes), and “Possessive Nouns”. Happy New Year everyone!

just wanted to give you all an update. We’ve just finished up the recording for our new record. and perfect timing too. just as we were dumping all the music onto an external drive, the primary drive on the computer fails. not the worst thing that can happen, and i’m still not even sure if its gone forever, but it still sucks. luckily the record is safe, we’ve narrowly avoided tragedy. we’re heading over to silver sonya to mix it down in about 2 weeks, and soon after we should be previewing a few tracks for you. stay tuned. we’ve got a couple of friends loaning us their voices for back up, including Mikal Evans, Carol Bui, & Dan Scheurman. winter blues

hey everyone,
we’re ducking below the radar for a few weeks, hopefully to emerge within a months time with our upcoming record, the follow up to last years “End of the Sweet Parade”. We’re finishing up the recording this week and next, and with concessions for the holidays of course. but then its off to Silver Sonya for the mixdown.

We’ve got a couple of shows lined up for after that, in February and March, visit the live page for those dates. We may perhaps be inclined to pick a show between now and then, but if so it will be very last minute. Hope you all have a great New Years, and we’ll see you in 2007!

So we’ve been a bit slow to update here, and we apologize for that. It won’t happen again. Quickly, just wanted to mention that a new review for our record End of the Sweet Parade has trickled in from Louisville’s Bejeezus. And we want to share it with you. Besides drawing some NMH parallels, she calls this record a really impressive debut, and cites favorites in “Handpainted Characters” and “Peonies and Dahlia Petals”, which both feel like they could go on forever, in the best possible way. But just so you know, we haven’t been resting. We have been recording new material; friends Carol Bui and Dan Scheuerman from Deleted Scenes have been through the meadhall to lay down some tracks, and we’ve got a bit more to do over the coming weeks. Just after the New Year we are scheduled to work on our mix with TJ from Aloha at Silver Sonya Studios, and we are very much looking forward to bringing you all a really great record. So stay tuned.

In the meanwhile, we’ve got a show coming up here in DC. Carpark Records bands Over the Atlantic from New Zealand and Baltimore’s Beach House will be sharing the stage with us at The Red & The Black. Recording Plans and Last-Minute Show

Hello everyone! The next few months will be spent wrapping up recording and all things related for our debut full length. We had every intention of keeping it easy with performances, however, we were offered up a show at the Black Cat. And since we’d been trying to play there for while now, we really didn’t have a choice when the gig turned up. You know? So for real this time. This will be our last show for a while. Deadlines have gone and I sit here still trying to catch the wave of organization.

Yes yes YES! Bbq weddings and summertime one-minute rendezvous flings in the laundry room, where unfortunately the dryers don’t work. But enough about ruminating on events-that-will-never-be. Let’s talk about things that are slated to occur in the most endearing of ways. You know, reality. I find that endearing, don’t you?

Stamen and Pistils get to play this Sunday, July 2nd @ the new Red & Black (1212 H St., NE Washington, DC) with newfound friends from Richmond, VA, Homemade Knives. We’ll also be playing with Baltimore’s Madagascar, Seattle’s Emma Zunz, and Western Massachusetts’ John Shaw (of Son of Earth/The Believers). Doors open @ 8:30 and the fee is $7.

It will be transplendant.

Psychic Parachutes and Gypsys

A lot’s been stirring ’round the DC scene as of late. We’ve made some new friends and some of our old ones have surprised us with new tricks up their hip corduroy sleeves. Our good friend Nick P, of Planaria Records/Design fame, has recently joined forces with some DC movers and shakers, and launched a new label (which we love), called Gypsy Eyes Records. The lineup is sick and we hope to work with some of the cats gracing their roster.

We’ve also made fast friends with the new upcoming local band and DCist fave, Deleted Scenes. We hope to play with them soon. They’ll be playing DCist’s Unbuckled, opening up for Georgie James on May 25!

In the meanwhile, Deleted Scenes’ bass player Fatty, is also in a band called, Parachute Musical, which features former members of Burning Airlines/Gov’t Issue/Shi-Toh/Wool. We’re pretty excited because we’ll be playing with them on June 5, 2006 at DC9. Joining us in the lineup is a pretty rockin’ trio from Athens, GA called Psychic Hearts. Check them both out. It’ll be a fantastic show, despite the fact it’s on a Monday. Honestly, every single one of you need to suck it up and not sleep on this show. Seriously.
